Many of my clients have come to me because they were in search of an advisor that would help them define their financial goals and develop a plan that gives them a clear path to reach those goals, despite life’s unexpected events.

That search for an advisor may have been ignited by a particular life event, with confusion about their next steps, such as

  • A first job
  • A career change
  • The birth of a child
  • Becoming a sole wage-earner
  • Retirement

Often that next step is a conversation about possibilities and goals.  Knowing what is possible will help to set realistic goals.  Once the goals are clearly defined, the process of creating and implementing a personalized financial plan can begin.

To me, the financial planning process is like one of my greatest passions: quilting. The success of the final product starts with a clear vision, is created by selecting the right fabrics, and is implemented by sewing the pieces together, resulting in a unique design.  Just like every quilt, every financial plan is an original.

Let’s take that first step!  Please contact me at jnwilliams@dearborncreggs.com or 832-944-8935 to schedule our conversation.

FINANCIAL PLANNING SERVICES

Financial Planning is the process of wisely managing finances to help clients achieve their dreams and goals. At the same time, financial representatives must also help clients negotiate the financial barriers that inevitably arise in every stage of life. The process includes assessing the client’s current financial situation, setting goals, and developing a personalized plan to help meet those goals. Once the plan is implemented, I will monitor its progress. As a financial professional, I can help clients make decisions to keep their plan on track and help maximize their financial resources throughout their lifetime.

HOW WE BEGIN

Making that first introduction, and then having to share personal and financial information with a stranger can be awkward. As your professional partner I strive to develop a long term working relationship that earns your trust. I take pride in knowing the services I provide matter to my clients and their families.

Although we offer a full service advisory, in my work as a Financial Advisor, one group I focus on serving is Texas educators, both Higher-Ed and k-12. My wife is a public school teacher and my Mother is retired on the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). Consequently, my heart has always lent itself to educators who are some of the most hardworking and self-sacrificing individuals I know.  It is my honor to serve you.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT WHEN WORKING WITH JOHN

  • A judgment-free and no pressure consulting atmosphere
  • Conversations without the complex technical jargon
  • A financial coach who will help you look at the bigger picture and match a plan personalized to your goals and desires
  • Help identifying your unrecognized financial gaps and possible blind spots
  • Answers to your questions and identifying questions you may not have known to ask

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF OUR FIRST TIME TOGETHER

Bring copies of any financial information so we can learn about where you are today. Things like statements, your budget if you have one, life insurance that you may already have. TRS statement, IRA statement, 401K, or 403(b)/457(b) statements will help paint a picture of your current status.

Other documentation may include paystubs, debt and loan balances with minimum payment information, and a list of any financial concerns or questions you may have.

Think about where you want to be in five to ten years, and how you might envision your retirement.

Since we take a holistic approach to educating, empowering, and liberating our clients from financial concerns, also keep in mind questions you may have about personal investments, education financing, and long term care to name a few.

Together we will use professional tools to review with the objective of helping you answer the questions: Will I have enough to retire? What will the quality of that retirement potentially look like? When will be the right time to retire?

John earned his BS at Texas A&M University and his masters at South Texas Baptist. His career includes national sales and marketing distinctions. He holds FINRA Series 66 and 7 securities registrations and has life and health insurance licenses in Texas. Volunteer efforts include many years in Scouting through BSA and various community activities.

Serving in Houston as a teacher has been one of my greatest honors. I became a teacher because I wanted to wake up every day knowing that my work mattered — I wanted to be an example to my students and their families while having the opportunity to both learn and teach. Although my job title is different, education remains at the forefront of how I serve. Serving as a Financial Advisor offers me the opportunity to continue to be a teacher and a counselor; I know my work matters to my clients and their families.

In my work as a Financial Advisor, one group I focus on serving is Texas educators. I, myself, am a member of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). As an educator, I can attest to the fact that I didn’t know much about the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. And honestly, there is more I wish I would have known. Educators are some of the most hard-working, selfless individuals I know — I am honored to have the opportunity to serve you. Although this is an area of focus, my door is open to all who are ready to take control of their futures.

TEACH & LEARN

Education is key. When I served as a teacher, I wanted to prove (to myself first and foremost) that I could live a rich life on an educator’s salary. If done right, I could travel regularly, save for major purchases and plan for my future. With some discipline and commitment, it is possible; I stand ready to be your teacher and counselor in this process.

One thing I enjoyed about being the youngest in my family was that I was able to learn from my older brother’s experience! In my blog, I share personal financial stories from my upbringing as well as my adulthood. They are both personal and educational. In addition, as a former teacher, I highlight aspects of the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas that could be helpful to you in your planning.

Virtual Meetings: I get it. We all live busy lives and if you live in Houston, you are constantly thinking about how you can spend less time in your car. Let’s cut the commute out of this meeting.

Refer a Friend

I’d be honored to work with people just like you. If you know someone who could benefit from a conversation with me, I’d be happy to connect with them.

TOOLS & SERVICES

Financial Planning: Together, we will explore your full financial picture and long-term planning.

TRS Retirement Analysis Report: After a short data-gathering call, I will review your professional, personalized retirement analysis with you. It will help you answer the questions: How much will my TRS benefit be? Will my TRS pension be enough? When is the right time to retire?

Jesse is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned his Master’s in Education from Harvard. In his education career, he served as a teacher, counselor and leader in schools and non-profits. His volunteer efforts focus on financial literacy and college access.
